Is Hertz cheaper than Enterprise? ›

We compared rental prices and found Enterprise to be consistently more affordable than Hertz.

Charges added during rental can also include additional products purchased by the renter at time of rent, including NeverLost GPS, SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, PlatePass (for toll roads), Child Seats, Ski Racks, and other products. Fee for drivers in addition to the renter named in the contract.

Can someone else drive a car that I rent? Yes. An Additional Driver, if added to the rental agreement, may drive the rental vehicle.

Rental Extension Charges

Hertz will charge you a $10 extended rental fee after this period. If you fail to notify them about your extension, they'll charge a late return fee of $12 per day.

Hertz (Thrifty and Dollar): Unlimited and limited rentals are available. For limited-mileage rental agreements, excess miles cost $0.25 each. However, Hertz doesn't charge for mileage on one-way rentals.

A $200 refundable security deposit is collected and held by Hertz on your credit card or debit card when you pick up the car. The deposit is returned when you stop renting the vehicle and return the car.

The Hertz credit card authorization amount can vary, but if you're booking with a credit card, we will place an authorization amount of up to $200, and $500 for debit cards (plus any projected charges) onto your card.

The renter of the vehicle must be present to sign the rental agreement and provide their credit card at the time of pick up. The renter cannot provide a credit or debit card belonging to someone else for their use.

Can my wife drive my rental car in California? ›

Renter's spouse or domestic partner who meet the same age and driver's license requirements of the renter are authorized drivers at no additional charge. Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet age and driver's license requirements.

Can You Use Someone Else's Credit Card? No, you must use a credit card that's registered to the main driver to rent a car. This is due to the legal responsibility the driver has after signing the rental agreement on pick-up.

To receive the exclusive Platinum Card member benefits associated with the American Express Platinum CDP number, if the number is not featured in your Gold profile, CDP number 633306 must be added to your profile and quoted at the time of reservation.

Does the car come with a full tank of fuel? Hertz rates do not include fuel. Hertz vehicles are always provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel, or a local refuelling charge will apply.

Hertz is committed to providing a safe, clean fleet for our customers and employees. In order to better deliver on this commitment, all Hertz vehicles are non-smoking. A $400 cleaning fee will be assessed for vehicles returned with evidence of smoking.
